Though few know it, Aenaroth is not the true name of the realm in which the kingdom resides. The realm has 2 true names -though one is not used except in the most formal of occasions- These being The Dragon Vale and Aenarothia
A vast world, spanning huge fields of grass, towering mountains of solid rock with passes treacherous and long. Scattered throughout the land are lakes of crystal clear water, raging rivers, and deserts dry as a bone. All of this makes up a realm that supports vast numbers of creatures considered mythical in other realms. Hundreds of thousands of creatures, all blessed with some form of magical abilities, though most are very minimal in true power.
In the center of these lands is the Kingdom of Aenaroth. After victory over the darkness in their own realm, the warriors of the realm who had united under Dukran had set down their weapons of war for tools of peace. In a small era of peace and nourishment they crafted several mighty fortresses to dot the landscape, and built a grand city near the Gateway Nexus, overlooked by the great citadel of Dracocrest castle. Winding roads spread through the countryside, with small towns and outposts littered along them at random. Within the kingdom there is an ever growing population of humans, estimated to number not more than 400,000 in the current golden age of the realm.
Ruling over the realm, the Lord of the Vale is a unique position, in that it is both earned and appointed. One must prove their will to serve the kingdom and realm to the end, and do their best to maintain the peace. Currently, Dukran is the Lord, having helped to carve the safety that the realm enjoys so greatly from the darkness that sought to destroy it. The Lord of the Vale also serves as the leader for the Dragon Knights of Aenaroth, who serve the realm and fight to defend it from threats both internal and external.
Of course, all of this would not be possible were it not for the Gateway Nexus. A circular array of enormous portals, all fueled by powerful ancient magic. They serve as literal gateways to other realms. Anchored in Aenaroth, they will open in other realms for anywhere from mere minutes to several weeks. Rarely do they reopen in the same realm of another portal. The randomness of the portals has made it difficult to maintain trade or diplomacy at all with other realms This is where the fortress tower Draconia Spire comes in. It serves as a headquarters for the Dragon Knights, as well as a small centralized portal network that can be maintained and opened at will. However, the magic required to do so is highly dangerous, and the Knights have deemed it too risky to allow others to learn it.
